In a world where hope and action often feel worlds apart, 12-year-old Prasiddhi Singh is making waves as a remarkable young environmental leader. Her journey from a cyclone-stricken childhood to leading a green revolution in India exemplifies the immense power of youthful determination and creativity.

Prasiddhi, often referred to as the “Indian Greta Thunberg,” has a mission that goes beyond mere advocacy. With a smile that lights up the room and an unwavering spirit, she’s igniting a grassroots movement for environmental change, captivating the attention of many along the way.

At the tender age of 8, she was recognized with the Dal Puraskar, an esteemed order of merit in India. When interviewed by the Times of India, she proudly shared the incredible achievement of planting 14 “fruit forests” across various schools and community spaces with the help of volunteers eager to make a difference.
Today, at just 12, Prasiddhi’s accomplishments are nothing short of astounding. With over 150,000 trees planted, she established the Prasiddhi Forest Foundation, dove into restoring vital ecosystems like mangroves and lakes, and even took the stage at prestigious events like TEDx and the UN Climate Change summits (COP 28 and 29). And who knows what other extraordinary ventures she may currently be pursuing?
The Prasiddhi Forest Foundation promotes a holistic approach to sustainability through its “3G Network.” This initiative encourages participants to ‘Generate’ their own oxygen, ‘Grow’ their own food, and ‘Gift’ their efforts back to their communities, fostering a sense of unity and responsibility.
Prasiddhi’s journey into environmental advocacy began following a devastating cyclone at just 7 years old, which struck close to home and left a lasting impact on her. But rather than allowing fear to dictate her actions, she seized the opportunity to sow seeds, both literally and figuratively. Her concept of fruit forests transcends mere safety; they offer ecological resilience and social connectivity, sparking hope among volunteers across India, especially in her home state of Tamil Nadu.
