When the handyman market became oversaturated, a company named Client Partners decided to think outside the box. In 2011, they launched the OK! Obaachan (OK! Grandmother) service, allowing people to rent grandmotherly companionship for various household tasks and emotional support.

Eager to keep active and engaged, 69-year-old Taeko Kaji is one of the many grandmothers who embraced this opportunity. “I never get bored,” she enthusiastically reports. “Each day brings new experiences, and I love that I made this choice.” For her, it’s not just a job; it’s a way to connect with the world and share the rich tapestry of her life.

The inspiration behind this service stems from a deeper social concern. With many elderly individuals facing isolation, the company recognized a vital need for companionship.
