Adventure beckons in the tale of James Ketchell, a determined Englishman whose passion for exploration knows no bounds. As he embarks on a daring journey to navigate the globe—by land, air, and now sea—his adventurous spirit reminds us all of the beauty that comes with chasing our dreams, no matter the challenges ahead.

Setting sail from a picturesque harbor in Hampshire, James Ketchell has a thrilling challenge ahead: to become the first person to circumnavigate the globe on land, in the air, and at sea. With a remarkable journey of 30,000 miles and nine months of solitude awaiting him, the dreamer in him shines brightly.

A reflection of the unyielding adventurous spirit of the British, his quest parallels that of fellow adventurer Ross Edgley, who is currently swimming around Iceland. While Edgley heads North, Ketchell will journey South, aiming for the sunlit shores of the Canary Islands as his first port of call.

In a stunning twist of fate, Ketchell plans to return via the treacherous waters of Cape Horn after passing the invigorating Cape of Good Hope. His voyage will take him as far as Australia, before he crosses the vast Pacific Ocean toward Uruguay. By late spring, he hopes to arrive back at home, after an incredible odyssey filled with exhilarating highs and unexpected challenges.

This isn’t his first venture into the unknown. Ketchell successfully completed a circumnavigation in 2019 aboard a gyrocopter, a feat achieved in just six months with a series of thrilling helicopter flights. Prior to that, in 2013, he rode around the world on his bicycle. Each experience adds a beautiful stitch to the fabric of his adventurous life.

Despite facing setbacks, including a technical hitch that halted his first boat expedition in 2024, Ketchell remains undeterred. With ample time and a well-equipped yacht, he intends to engage with the world while at sea, livestreaming educational video sessions to inspire classrooms across the globe.

Premier Marinas has partnered with Ketchell, expressing immense pride in his preparations, which have been fine-tuned at their Hampshire location. Manager Jonathan Walcroft shared that they’ve collaborated closely to ensure he embarks on a safe and successful journey.

The legacy of circumnavigators is rich; the first to sail around the world solo was Joshua Slocum from Nova Scotia, who began his adventure back in 1892, returning three years later. Today, Ketchell stands on the shoulders of giants, ready to carve his own path through the seas.
