By transforming used coffee grounds and plastic into a potent tool for capturing carbon dioxide, they are turning what would be pollution into a remedy for our planet.

The brilliant team, led by Dr. Haif Aljomard, has patented a method that creatively combines spent coffee grounds, polyethylene terephthalate (PET), and potassium hydroxide—a strong alkaline chemical—to create activated carbon.
