Some stories are simply too heartwarming not to share, especially when they unite communities and nourish those in need. This is a tale of generosity and impact, showing how a family-owned business is making waves in the fight against food waste and hunger in the UK.

This week, Müller UK & Ireland celebrated a remarkable achievement: the donation of the equivalent of four million meals through their partnership with FareShare. This inspiring initiative aims to support low-income individuals across the UK by transforming surplus food into essential meals.

FareShare, recognized as the UK’s largest food redistribution charity, works tirelessly to distribute good-to-eat surplus food and donations from the food industry, helping a network of over 8,500 charities and community groups. From food banks to hospices, Müller’s steady contributions of nutritious dairy products, such as milk and yogurt, ensure that no quality food goes to waste.

The collaboration between Müller and FareShare is a cornerstone of the company’s Sustainability Action Plan. By partnering with FareShare, Müller not only minimizes their environmental footprint but also promotes community well-being. “Our purpose goes beyond simply making dairy products: we’re here to play our part in supporting the people and communities who need it most,” explained Victoria Bryant from Müller UK & Ireland. “Working with FareShare has empowered us to make a direct impact by delivering nutritious dairy products to those who might otherwise go without it.”

The efforts of Müller resonate deeply with those in the community. Kris Gibbon-Walsh, the CEO of FareShare, expressed gratitude, stating, “Müller’s ongoing support has helped us deliver millions of meals to people facing hardship, and their contributions continue to make a real difference in lives across the country.”

As the most popular dairy brand in Great Britain, Müller boasts an impressive footprint, exporting to 60 countries and providing jobs to over 32,000 people across Europe. The company sources its milk from more than 1,000 farmers in Britain, strengthening local economies and communities.

To put their impact into perspective, FareShare redistributes an astonishing 128 million meals annually, equal to four meals every second! They achieve this by diverting 55,000 tons of food from landfills, preventing 95,000 tons of CO2 emissions in the process.

By achieving this significant milestone, Müller hopes to inspire further efforts within the food industry to combat hunger and reduce waste. Their commitment serves as a powerful reminder of how collective action can lead to transformative change.
