From One Dream to Four: Celebrating a Decade of Growth and Community in Florida!

The journey of Rising Tide Car Wash began back in 2015 when John D’Eri envisioned a place where his son, Andrew, who is autistic, could not only find a job but also gain independence and dignity. Little did he know at that moment how far this dream would travel.

Fast forward ten years, and Rising Tide has blossomed into a thriving enterprise with three locations in Florida—Margate, Parkland, and Coral Springs—with a fourth on the way for Pompano Bay in 2026. Today, this incredible car wash employs 90 adults on the autism spectrum, offering them not just a paycheck, but a sense of belonging and accomplishment.

When John first opened the car wash, he envisioned a bright future for Andrew and wanted to ensure that he wouldn’t just “sit in a room, taken care of by others” once he was gone. He needed Andrew to have friends, responsibilities, and above all, purpose. This vision resonated with countless other parents who share similar dreams for their own children.

At Rising Tide, employees shine just like the cars they wash. Ryan Brodie, one of the hardworking team members, shares, “I like working on the cars because it’s so easy for me. The best thing about having a job is that I make so much money.” Such simple joy speaks volumes about the empowerment experienced within those walls.

Michelle Hintz, a psychologist at the Cadenza Center for Psychotherapy & the Arts, offers her insights into the significance of opportunities like this. “There aren’t many meaningful jobs available for individuals with high-functioning autism, but here, they can thrive and feel included,” she notes. She often sees the transformation in the employees as they take pride in their work—washing a car from dull to dazzling.
