Imagine the thrill of seeing your favorite movie come to life right before your eyes! Recently, Londoners were treated to an awe-inspiring spectacle that blended nostalgia with excitement, perfectly capturing the magic of the Harry Potter universe.

The Hungarian Horntail makes its grand entrance in London – Warner Bros / SWNS

London was buzzing with excitement as a stunning 25-foot-long animatronic dragon, synonymous with the Harry Potter series, paraded through its streets. The creature, captured in chains, roared dramatically against the backdrop of famous landmarks like Big Ben and Westminster Bridge, captivating both tourists and locals alike.

This spectacular event was not just for show; it celebrated the launch of the ‘Triwizard Tournament—Making of Champions’ exhibit at the Warner Bros. Studio Tour. Here, visitors can immerse themselves in beloved scenes from the franchise, including iconic locations like the Great Hall and Diagon Alley.

The Hungarian Horntail, made to mirror the fierce dragon that Harry faces in the Triwizard Tournament, is a sight to behold, weighing a whopping 1.3 tons. Each meticulous detail—from its lifelike movements of the head and eyes to the roaring sound effects—invited fans back into the magical world they adore.

Designed by Joe Scott, a talented animatronic designer who worked on the films, the dragon showcases an incredible fusion of artistry and technology. With its 3D-printed head and 38 intricately crafted teeth, the model captures the jaw-dropping intensity of Harry’s encounter perfectly.

Scott shared his excitement about revisiting the creation process two decades later. “This journey to recreate the Hungarian Horntail has been nothing short of magical. It’s amazing to see how our teamwork and passion for storytelling combine to inspire fans of all ages,” he expressed.

As the dragon took its captive tour around the city, it evoked moments from the film where it escapes its chains, bringing a piece of cinematic history back to life. After winding through London’s bustling streets, it headed back to the studio tour in Hertfordshire, just an hour’s journey from the heart of the city.

The exhibit, which runs from May 15 to September 8 this year, offers fans a behind-the-scenes look at the creation of the Triwizard Tournament. With interactive demonstrations and a chance to see spectacular costumes from Beauxbatons and Durmstrang, visitors will be transported into a world of magical challenges and thrilling adventures.

“We’re thrilled to share the secrets behind our filmmaking,” Scott added. “This exhibit lets us connect with the passionate Harry Potter community and share in their love for something that has become a part of their lives.”
