In a world often characterized by a housing crisis, a unique community in Tampa Bay is shining a light on affordable living. Escape Tampa Bay not only offers charming tiny homes but also fosters a sense of belonging, proving that home is not just a place but a feeling.

Nestled in the heart of Tampa Bay, Florida, the Escape Tampa Bay community stands as a testament to innovative living. With over 60 residents calling it home, this charming tiny home village features cozy houses that start at a mere 8.5 feet wide—each crafted to withstand the fury of Mother Nature.
Founded in 2020 by Dan Dobrowolski, the community was born from a desire to combat the ongoing housing affordability crisis. “Even in a tiny house, there’s plenty of room to breathe,” says Dan, emphasizing the importance of outdoor spaces, which are abundant here. The deliberate design includes lush green areas and parks, inviting residents to connect with nature and one another.
With 45 tiny homes, each with up to two bedrooms, a kitchen, and a bathroom, living here is remarkably cost-effective. Prices start as low as $156,000 to buy or $1,400 a month to rent—far below the average rent in the bustling Tampa area.
Unlike temporary RV parks, Escape Tampa Bay is built with permanent infrastructure, ensuring a stable living environment. From underground utilities to fiber-optic internet, everything is designed for modern comfort.

Weathering the Storm
Resilience is built into the very fabric of Escape Tampa Bay. Just last year, as Hurricane Milton bore down on Florida, the community faced its greatest test. With winds exceeding 115 mph and astounding rainfall, it was a trial by fire—or, rather, water.

Against all odds, the homes stood strong, with no reported leaks or damage. Dan’s vision of durable and stylish housing proved its worth when it mattered most. The community thrived, offering an affordable haven during a time of crisis.
The homes, ranging from 200 to 600 square feet, embody the idea that one doesn’t need a vast space to create lasting memories. Most residents own their homes, while others can opt for rental options, knowing they have a safe and welcoming environment.
“We wanted to create not just houses, but a real community,” Dan reflects. With shared amenities like a pool and workspaces, Escape Tampa Bay encourages connections and camaraderie among neighbors.

With demand for affordable homes soaring, communities like Escape Tampa Bay are not just needed—they’re desired. They demonstrate that style, safety, and community spirit can flourish even in the most compact spaces.
Ultimately, as Dan puts it, “It’s more than just housing; it’s a chance for people to live fulfilling lives.”
