Here’s a heartwarming story from Mineral, Virginia.
Starting from 2016, Kate Fletcher, an English teacher at Louisa County High School, has been running every year not just for fitness but to support her students’ future.

Fletcher’s annual “Lion Pride Run” has become a beloved tradition in her Virginia community, raising over $100,000 in scholarships for more than 60 students to assist with college expenses.
What sets the run apart is that Fletcher adds a new challenge each year. In 2022, she ran continuously for 24 hours on the school’s track. In another year, she completed an impressive 105-mile journey.
This year’s run is dedicated to the school’s theme of “Be the Coffee Bean,” which emphasizes making a positive impact on your surroundings.

Each challenge undertaken by Fletcher showcases her commitment not just to running but to her students.
“This run provides significant scholarship funds to students in need every year. That’s what motivates me, even when I’m in pain,” Fletcher mentioned when she reached the halfway point of this year’s run at a Dunkin’ Donuts on Thursday morning.
